Horse care is very important for the health and happiness of your horse. Horses showing a chestnut color (reddish) inherited the gene for red from both their parents. If a horse is kept outside during the day it’s coat can get sunburned. Grooming a horse regularly can help its coat be more attractive and healthy. Horses normally do not get excited when petted or groomed. A horse can be bathed by being wet down with a garden hose, but bathing is not a necessity and many horses live their entire lives without a bath. Horses do not get fleas. Horses in different parts of the country shed their hair at different times of the year but normally shed twice a year. Naturally dirty creatures, horses with white in their coats are more prone to manure stains, urine stains and mud, regardless of how often you groom them. Long manes and horse tails are brushed with either a dandy brush or a suitable human hair brush. Another important item for a healthy horse coat care as well as helping keeping an attractive horse is the need to constant dry, safe, comfortable shelter to protect them from rain, wind, and snow.
